Jackalope’s Lodge formerly Archers Mountain Inn, once the personal residence of legendary football coach Paul Dietzel, provides a cozy retreat perched high on Beech Mountain in North Carolina. The inn is a compilation of relaxing (and slightly quirky) lodge rooms and upscale vacation homes. We also have Jackalope’s View Restaurant – one of the best dining options in the High Country.
Guest rooms feature panoramic views, rustic décor and wood-burning fireplaces. Visitors may choose from traditional bed-and-breakfast style rooms, larger suites, or rental homes with two to five bedrooms. Suite amenities include in-room whirlpools and private outdoor hot tubs.
Our casual, laid-back atmosphere makes us the perfect spot for outdoor enthusiasts who like to “play hard and rest easy.” We feel blessed to be located on Beech Mountain (elev. 5,506 feet). Beech is home to Beech Mountain Resort – the South’s premier skiing/snowboarding experience in winter, and the summer location of the U.S. National Mountain Biking Championships in 2011 and 2012. There are also numerous mountain biking and trail-running competitions held annually on Beech Mountain.
In fact, Beech mountain’s unique climate and topography make it a Mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. The Town of Beech Mountain North Carolina maintains several miles of hiking and biking trails, including the newly-opened Beech Mountain Adventure Trail Park. We’re also home to the road course where cyclist Lance Armstrong trained in 1998 prior to winning the first of his record seven-straight Tour de France titles. Each winter, families come from all over the Southeast to enjoy the Town of Beech Mountain’s youth sledding hill. The hill is equipped with its own snow gun, and is open all winter free of charge.
Other less strenuous activities include: Art in the Park, Mile-High Kite Festival; Brews and Views beer festival; Fourth of July fireworks; live outdoor summer music; and the annual Autumn at Oz celebration the first weekend of October. With so much going on, Archers Mountain Inn is the perfect base for activities on, or off, Beech Mountain.
Jackalope’s Lodge also excels at group functions and weddings. We welcome the chance to creatively design rehearsal dinners, receptions, corporate outings, family reunions and destination weddings. Our packages can be customized with such add-ons as: golf, day spa, guided hikes, cycling, rafting, or skiing.
We’re also a great spot for athletes of all skill levels to experience the benefits of high-altitude training. Come see why travelers consistently ranks us among the top lodging and dining options for Beech Mountain and Banner Elk!
